As the end of the summer draws near, we have the wish to make you discover the Balearic Islands. The summer high season is over, and if you still have a few days of holidays you can take, don’t hesitate to do so!
Down there it’s still quite hot, and you’ll even be able to take a bath in the crystal clear waters and lay leisurely on the warm sands under the sun. The Balearic Islands are only 50 minutes away from Barcelona by plane. You may also travel to the islands by Ferry.
There are 4 islands, all of them different and each of them with its own offer of sights and attractions.
Ibiza
When you hear Ibiza, of course the first thing that comes to your mind is “fiesta”! We’re going to party too, but there’s plenty of other things! The island is brimming with small villages, each more charming than the previous one. Rent a scooter and ride around the mountains, to the heart of the islands, where the heart of its residents is. You are actually not bound to spend time at all in the ultra-touristic places with a party atmosphere. Ibiza may also be discovered in family, calmly enjoying a beach, far from the clubs and the crowds.
You don’t want to miss
The hippie market of the Dallas, the Pachá nightclub, the historic town centre – Dalt Vila, a sunset in Sant Antoni beach, the Benirràs cove, the Portinaxt cove, the San Vicente cove, the s’Illa Plana lighthouse…
Majorca
Majorca is the biggest of the four islands, and without any doubt, the more visited one as well. We strongly suggest you to rent a car to travel from beach to beach and from village to village. Palma, as pretty as it is, will only take 1 or 2 days to be fully explored. It’s much better to book a hotel along the coastline, next to the beach, or alternatively you can rent through airbnb a country house in the middle of the island. You’ll fall in love with the tiny villages, the markets, the coves and nature, and the mountains, as far as can be seen. Wheat fields and fig trees, butpalm trees too. Majorca is not only the crowded, hyper-touristic island. There you’ll also be able to find wild spots and deserted coves. Don’t forget to taste the local cuisine and the craft products.
You don’t want to miss
The s’Amarador beach, the Torta cove, the Cala Pi, the historic centre of Palma, the villages of the “Serra de Tramuntana”, the “Port Sóller”, the village of Sineu, the cape of Formentor…
Minorca
The color of the water is completely amazing. You’ll have the impression you’re inside a swimming pool. The beaches of the West Indies or Thailand can’t offer you much more! During the height of the summer there are logically plenty of visitors, but there’s no reason why you shouldn’t go out of peak season. In June or September/October the weather is still really nice. Be aware that you’ll need to rent a car or a scooter. Once you arrive there, you’ll notice the island has bus services, but they pass every hour! In this island you’ll be able to discover a fishing village and absolutely magnificent “calas”!
You don’t want to miss
The “Port de Maó”, the town of Ciudadela, Cales Coves, the breath-taking panoramic from Monte Toro, the beach of Es Talaier, the Presili cove…
Formentera
Our favorite! Formentera is a small, wild island that is located south of Ibiza and hasn’t yet been very invaded by tourists, a true paradise on Earth. Down there you may take your time and enjoy the marvels of the island! Do so with your couple or with the whole family; on your own or as a group… It won’t take you long to discover the islands, but staying for a few days will always be the best way to unwind and enjoy these idyllic surroundings!
You don’t want to miss
The village of Sant Francesc Xavier, the “Punta del Ras”, the “Faro de la Mola” lighthouse, the watch towers, the Illetes beach, the open-air summer cinema at the town square of Sant Ferran, The Es Arenals Beach…
