Summer is not entirely gone in Barcelona, so we’re ready to enjoy it for a little longer. Most tourists have already packed their luggage, so the time when we, the inhabitants of the city, can lay our towels on the sands of the beach at ease, is almost here. (Among the beer vendors and masseuses, that’s understood!). It won’t be long until we miss them, you’ll see.
The Barceloneta is far from being the ideal beach, we can’t but agree. Nevertheless, it’s certainly the closest beach to downtown Barcelona. And yes indeed, it’s possible to walk right into it, in fact the stroll is quite enjoyable!
Our promenade will take us along the dock, among cyclists and skaters. You may even spot a surfer or two along the way!
There’s of course the possibility to eat there, too. Among the “paellas” and “tapas”, the ice-creams and “pinchos”, we’re choosing to take you to a tiny take away restaurant.
A “piadina”, please! We’re taking you to the “Antica Piada”, no less!
Did you know about this place?
Well, we absolutely love it! Nothing very complicated, really.
This meal is made from flatbreads really similar to those used to make fajitas, frequently filled with a base of mozzarella or any other Italian cheese, plus arugula, smoked or cured ham, chicken… Actually anything you want!
The “piadina” may be eaten on the go, and the prices are by all means quite affordable. The perfect meal just before your beach trip, particularly if you’re in a hurry!
As you see, everything’s quite well thought in advance. Each “piadina” is packed in its own pouch, which allows you to eat it, instead of spreading it all over the place! Perfect also for the kids!
You’ll have the choice to eat it at the venue, but be aware, it’s quite tiny! Alternatively, you may eat it across the restaurant, or of course directly at the beach!
See for yourself, it’s really a stone’s throw away!
So, did we succeed in tempting you?!
